Japanese government says it needs more data before deciding on mixed use of COVID-19 vaccines

TOKYO (Reuters) – Senior Japanese government spokesperson Katsunobu Kato said on Monday that there was not yet enough data to actively promote mixed use of COVID-19 vaccines, and that more information were necessary before making a decision on the matter.
The comment comes after Taro Kono, Minister responsible for Japan’s immunization program, said on Sunday that Japan was exploring the possibility of mixing injections of AstraZeneca Plc’s COVID-19 vaccine with those developed by other drug makers. with the aim of accelerating the deployment of its vaccine. .
