The Virginia Beer Company launches a new year-round beer, the magnificent Citra IPA

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia – The Virginia Beer Company (VBC) will launch Gorgeous Citra IPA this week, the latest addition to its lineup of staple beers available throughout the year.

The magnificent Citra IPA, first brewed as a VBC exclusive in April 2021, is a hazy dry-hopped 5.7% ABV IPA brimming with citrus notes from the generous use of Citra, while delivering a smooth mouthfeel that allows the beer to remain sublimely approachable. This beer will be the first VBC base beer available in four 16oz packs.

“We always strive to continuously advance our portfolio and deliver styles that capture the attention of the craft beer consumer,” explained Robby Willey, co-founder of VBC. “IPAs continue to reign supreme, so Gorgeous Citra IPA was a way to expand our offerings with an IPA recipe that is still very different from our flagship bestseller, Free Verse. There are still many variations in the IPA style and we are happy to explore this ground.

The release of Gorgeous Citra IPA comes after VBC recently unveiled a stylish brand refresh of its year-round core beers.

“The lack of noise and clutter on our new beer labels helps them visually grab the attention of the venue,” commented Michael Rhodes, Sales Manager, VBC. “The art evokes a nostalgic, yet modern take on craft beer packaging designs. And everything about Gorgeous Citra IPA is also emblematic of the VBC philosophy. It’s a classic style recipe and a beautiful visual mark, capturing the things we love most about beer. All of these elements converge to create an IPA offering that we believe could best be described with one adjective – Magnificent.

The gorgeous Citra IPA will be available on tap and in 16oz four-packs at VBC’s taproom in Williamsburg starting this week, then available throughout Virginia by the end of the month.
