This Lansing Children’s Foundation is donating 500 toys.
Christmas is such a magical time of the year and also a time to give and spend time with family and friends and of course, counting our blessings.
Growing up I had 8 siblings and we didn’t have much, but mom made sure we had presents to open on Christmas morning.
Later in her life as a young adult I asked her how she was doing and she replied that instead of buying expensive gifts she was buying cheaper ones so we had more to open. She also taught us that it is about giving and not receiving. I wouldn’t have changed anything from that point on.
That’s why I love events like this, the Lansing Police and Fire Department are doing something cool for the kids in the community. It’s a gift of toys on Tuesday, December 14th, and all children are welcome, regardless of age. They will receive a free toy for Christmas.
500 children will receive toys
All thanks to donations from the First Responders Children’s Foundation according to fox47news.com, around 500 toys will be distributed to boys and girls, including dolls and toy cars.
We have also partnered with the Greater Lansing Food Bank to provide boxes of food to families who find they need a little extra help during this time, âsaid Anthony J. VandeVoorde, officer of the Lansing Police Department community service unit.
It warms our hearts and really brings out the holiday spirit. The toy giveaway will take place between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Lansing Police Operations Center at 5815 Wise Road in Lansing and does not require registration.
Let’s all give this holiday season
This should inspire us all to give back this holiday season and make it the best Christmas yet.
